Copy Rectangle Selection Crashes on Mac

I have just installed Pinta (with the current Mono Framework (MonoFramework-MRE-3.10.0.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg) on a new Mac laptop. I have been a long time user of Paint.NET on a PC and was very excited to see something very similar to it on the Mac.

However, my first test failed. I loaded an image (a jpg) into Pinta, then made a rectangular selection. My intent was to copy that selection to another layer or a new image within Pinta - something that I have done MANY times in PAINT.NET. Each time I tried this, whether using the keyboard commands or using the Copy or Cut options from the menu, Pinta crashed with an unhandled exception.

I also tried Crop To Selection and ran into the bug that has been reported for this issue.

As it stands right now, I am unable to extract a small area out of an existing image.

Please advise.

Can you attach a crash log? Also, which version of Pinta are you using? (Pinta 1.5 is the latest release - https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/releases/tag/1.5)

Thank you Cameron -

I am running Pinta 1.4 which was the executable that was available on the
download site. I did go to the Pinta 1.5 site and downloaded the tar file
.. But what I got was all the source necessary to build the executable.
This is NOT what I want. I do not plan to make any additions to Pinta and
simply want the executable to run so that I can work with graphic images.

I do not have the development tools to build it on the Mac. Where can I
get the executable for Pinta 1.5?????

Viki Pitts, there were some issues with official web page, but it should be now fixed, so version 1.5 is there to download from:
http://pinta-project.com/releases
