Yes, with that option you shouldn't be seeing it.

From, mysql 5.6.22-25.8-978.wheezy - looks like you are not using PXC., can you provide dpkg -l | grep -i percona

Can you confirm this?

Also, make sure that option is set on donor where the backup takes place.

You can also use FORCE_FTWRL=1 in /etc/default/mysql

From your log, it looks like it is still using backup locks even with that option.

Please provide full error log of this. (and donor innobackup log)
