Same problem here but much much severe.
When running alter table the Master crashed. On restarting the Master 10,000 records of the table went missing. Repeated the same alter table twice more with the same result - each time 10,000 records were deleted.
The ALTER TABLE command was only modifying a column definition from NULL to NOT NULL.
