This bug is mentioned in 2.4.0-rc1 release notes with the following statement:
"Compact Backups currently don’t work due to bug #1192834."

In the subsequent release notes there is no mention of whether compact backups work in 2.4 or not. So do they work now or does the above statement still apply? I see that this bug is still open as well for almost 4 years.
