Hi Jani - Sorry it took so long to respond.

As I mentioned:

"I can confirm that you cannot work around by simply giving xtrabackup binary --innodb_file_per_table=1 on the command line. The only work around is actually creating the tmpdir you need."

It is possible that the option is not correctly being passed from the xtrabackup command line through the the MySQL engine internally. In any case - it does not work as a viable work around.

This is still a bug that is affecting us.
