This is a correction to my previous post.

When I looked in the pt-table-checksum source code I just downloaded, I realized that it did not include Zach's fix.
  I edited the Perl script according to Zach's patch. It worked perfectly.

I issued the following command:

pt-table-checksum -h myhost -u login -pMypasswd

No error was received.
