I can confirm on Ubuntu 14.04 the same problem
But it appears to be much worse as Percona 5.5.37 seems to come with handlersocket installed by default. So all I did was install Percona and now can't stop the server. As this is part of our automatic install script for EC2 machine bootstrapping, this bug kills the whole procedure. Any idea when will it be fixed?

Btw, tried Percona 5.6, but it has another problem, it crashes during the inplace database recovery (of the database created by Percona 5.5.).
