What kind of work? There is a clear repeatable test case on CentOS 5 that shows that software does not work as PAM manual described, while it works this way on CentOS 6. So, one only has to decide what to fix - PAM manual, to take CentOS 5 case into account, or Percona Server, to work on CentOS 5 the way PAM manual describes. What exactly non-developer can further verify here?
