The partnership agreement requires the original dataset is to be licensed under CC Canada Attribution 3.0. However, it has been suggested, and I agree, that the most appropriate site licence is a Public Domain dedication for a number of reasons, including: (1) PD licence is used by other initiative affiliates such as Open Library and allows for global data integration; (2) talking the talk, requires walking the walk; and (3) the copyrightability of bibliographic data (read: facts) is not clear.
Therefore, it is proposed that, upon public launch, the site contain a notice giving social attribution to Access Copyright for providing the initial dataset but dedicating it, and all further data, to the Public Domain.
