Hi Chad,

Regarding colors: one can save the colors to a file named "./pcb/colors/mycolors" in the user's home directory and send that file with the layout file.

Regarding grid settings, routing styles and other configuration information: the file ".pcb/preferences" in the user's home directory could communicate all that information.

The font information best goes inside the pcb layout file itself for dimensions of silk have a very close relation to soldermask and other features. Change the font style and silk may be printed on bare copper pads or drill holes. Your fab house may, or may not, prevent bad things happening to your board and YMMV here ;-)
