Yes, +1 to what Christian said. In the *specific* case where the app is maximised, the pixels to the right of the thumb, between the thumb and the edge of the screen, should be an extension of the thumb. So you can use the right edge of the screen to click and drag the thumb even though you are slightly missing the thumb.
