The problem is in the Windows functionality - whenever you try to list all Windows drives (ie. content of My Computer), Windows updates drives status and that is what causes your hard drive getting awaken. And because Open Subdownloader shows all drives at the startup, your drive starts spinning.
To solve your issue I would need to hide some of your drives. It can be done but that means adding a setting that is quite advanced (and maybe confusing) and not many users would use that. And because that is functionality provided by Qt, I cannot guarantee, that it will work for you. So this is something I am not convinced to fix. :-(
