How to support image uploading using eucatools

This page should be updated to describe in more detail how to configure the compute service in order to be able to upload images using eucatools.

This requires setting up the nova-objectstore service, since the eucatools expect an S3-based object storage for uploading the images.

does nova-objectstore still exist in Essex?

If so, this bug is about fixing the doc so that people can configure it to make image upload/listing work using the S3 API provided by nova-objectstore.

nova-objectstore still exists in Essex. The URL you point out to be corrected has several flags in it. Do you have a configuration in which these flags are not working? Or do the flags require more detail or something else? Any additional information you can provide will help me get this addressed sooner.

Hi,

That page says: "If your installation requires the use of euca2ools for registering new images, you will need to run the nova-objectstore service. This service provides an Amazon S3 frontend for Glance, which is needed because euca2ools can only upload images to an S3-compatible image store."

Then lists some flags.

My guess(I'm not the bug reporter, actually) is this bug was about turning that page into one that actually provides the full instruction to allow a user to run a euca-upload-bundle or euca-register-image successfully, so it's all about fleshing that page ...

I've been referred to check with both the Glance PTL and the Swift PTL to see if they have the info needed to put together a step-by-step to configure this. Will be reaching out to them ASAP.

I've updated the description of this bug. I've also downgraded it to medium since it doesn't seem like there's that much demand for this functionality right now.
