Hi,

This is basically not possible if you are using keystone and run a multi-user cloud.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/991531

Writing up how NeCTAR does this would involve instructions on patching code - I'm not sure this'd belong in the official docs.

Is there other ways that you know of that would fit this ?

Otherwise I'm tempted to mark this bug as affecting nova, keystone and swift and see what happens :)

I think it's a definite problem that needs to be solved - but we need some help in order to fix in in the docs...

We are not talking about the old nova-objectstore (which seems to be
referenced in bug #991531) but to use swift as a replacement of
nova-objectstore, swift3 is not part of swift anymore so I think this
may be a WONTFIX. Tom you guys have patched nova-objectstore, right?

Hi Chmouel,

Actually, we use swift directly and patch nova in a few places and then put the swift S3 endpoint in the credentials download. It works, but we the mods to nova could be considered 'nasty'.

I'd be quite disturbed if this was marked a wontfix :) The EC2 endpoint ability for nova is such a useful feature for so many, and uploading images is a key part of that.

I'm following up on this as it is quite old. Is this issue still valid? Thanks!

Regarding my comment #1, I understand that changes were made to swift and glance to make this more possible since that time.
