The file https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible/blob/master/etc/network/interfaces.d/openstack_interface.cfg.example is currently implemented as the example for both test and prod examples.

This should not be the case.

Ideally openstack_interface.cfg.example should be renamed to openstack_interface.cfg.prod.example and another file called openstack_interface.cfg.test.example should be created. The test example should be an implementation of network configuration based on a single NIC host.
