Knowing that I can hold ctrl & scroll down on the mouse wheel while over the timeline as a work around it helpful. Using that technique I was able to see past the initial 42:32:000 limit.
Confirming a me too, as this bug is still present in Ubuntu 16.04 with OpenShot 1.4.3. The workaround of zooming of the time bar helps though.
