Bug Description

I'm running Debian Wheezy 64bit (vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-amd64) net-install, and OpenShot Video Editor (1.2.4) apt-get, recently it has crashed several times with no warning, just blank screen! Now the red cursor that moves along the timeline has vanished!

I have 'apt-get purge openshot' then 'apt-get install openshot'

In the command shell :

Need to get 19.3 MB of archives.
After this operation, 46.1 MB of additional disk space will be used.
Get:1 http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/ wheezy/main openshot all 1.4.2-1.1 [19.3 MB]
Fetched 19.3 MB in 0s (30.8 MB/s)
Selecting previously unselected package openshot.
(Reading database ... 184756 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking openshot (from .../openshot_1.4.2-1.1_all.deb) ...

Update - osp is saving a video from the compilation I have created, 56 seconds, it is now three and a half hours since it started and it is barely at 60% complete!

HUm I don't understand if you are on Debian or on Ubuntu (last
screen-capture).

Anyway, the last version of Openshot is the 1.4.3 and she is in their
repository.
If you are using Ubuntu, the issue with launchpad is minor. Try again
either they have been attacked either a temporary problem with their server
(too much people at the same time) either a maintenance issue.

Hum you seem to have a problem for encoding more than 5 hours for less one
minutes. After that, it is normal that you have a file of ...............0
mb. :-(
Update your version of mlt; Even it is for Ubuntu, this faq eve can help
you https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/1861
After, I wondering if you should not update ffmpeg, like you are on Debian
I'm nearly sure that you are using this dirty fork : libav or avconv full
of bugs.
For the cursor it is mlt, for the export ffmpeg even mlt can be the issue.
