Comment 8 for bug 695999

Dear translation team,

I tried to find out the reason for any or missing translations.
The reason seems to be in the automated synchronisation of de.po
files after doing changes or new translations in launchpad (search for original example snippet term "This report performs" ...
in revison 4151 details)

I tried to focus on one example in order to find the reason.
The example i followed is this ...

Sales/Reporting/Sales Analysis (help text in form -> example_shot1, ).
You can see what happens following my example:

1. I entered the translation in launchpad on 29th December (attachment : example_shot2)
2. I made a fresh database install based on rc2, choosing directly in wizards step 1 "German/Deutsch" as language
3. I checked the de.po file for sale module (attachment: example_shot3), which seems to be ok (the translation term is included).
4. After processing some configuration steps i noticed a lot of missing translations (but this seems to be another bug with translations if i choose "German/Deutsch" in first step of database installation wizard)
5. Manual installation of official language ("German/Deutsch) once again by activiation "overwrite" option seems to fix this problem for most terms. Additionally i synchronized all terms (i hope this doesn't cause some translation issues).
6. Then i checked the translation terms view (example_shot4). Most items seems to be translated as expected.
7. Then i focused on our example, explicitly searching for this term (example_shot5). From that views perspective the term seems to untranslated (but why it is included in de.po file under /sale/i18n ?)
8. I tried to follow-up the changes in sources between my manual entry in launchpad and my current test scenario:
9. I recognized something in the last source code change logs belonging some translation updates, which might be the reason for the problem... In revision 4151 (details description of this revision is in example_shot8) the synchronisation of the original msgid was not synchronized, only the msgstr i entered on 29th of Dec. It looks like a crippled synchronisation (example_shot7) as result of my launchpad changes.
