Hi,

I installed Lenny 5.0.4 in a VirtualBox and fetched the sources from the website (openerp.com/download/source/stable/openerp-server-5.0.10.tar.gz)

Test1.
I created a virtualenv environment to check in my $HOME (non admin user) and I can create a database

Test 2.
With the root user, I installed openerp-server in the site-package of python2.5 and I haven't got any error and I can create a database with the service profile.

So, I'm sorry, but I don't understand your problem.
