Dear all,

I must say I agree with Invitu & Nhomar on this point. Average price should be affected by a return at the cost of those products were purchased.

A simple example to illustrate :

Purchase & receipt 10 product at 20.- => Avg = 20.-
Purchase & receipt 5 product at 15.- => Avg = 18.33.-
Return 2 product of the last packing...

1) If no impact on average price : Avg price is still of 18.33.-
2) If returned at the purchased price: Avg price is now = 18.84.-

When I receive again the 2 missing products at the same price (15.-) the Avg price is computed...

In case 1) Avg price will be now of 17.94.- ((10*20+5*15+2*15)/17)
In case 2) Avg price will again be at 18.33.- which is the correct answer

So, if we do not change the average price when making a return, then we will have a wrong Avg price when making again the packing for the returned product.

According to my understanding, we want to know how much does this product cost me here... The case 1) doesn't give me the right answer... My customers agree with that.

I think we should make what Nhomar suggest.

Regards,

Joël
