Tim, the way it is now assumes nobody doesnt. And there is also middlebutton emulation.

The good thing about this proposal is that it also improves usability for people who have only one mouse button (eg poor Mac owners), you could singleclick song and doubleclick verse from preview pane or doubleclick it directly. Other than that without middle button they would be just as happy as they are right now.
