I had a friend at Intel test the http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20091020.3/karmic-desktop-i386.iso image yesterday. He reports that on a 8x Prestonia (Xeon) system with 6G memory, the correct amount of memory is being reported by 'sudo /usr/lib/base-installer/dmi-available-memory'.
