After upgrade to Precise I have lost 3D acceleration for my onboard NVIDIA GeForce 6150. glxinfo reports hardware acceleration, but glxgears has frame rates c.a 5 per sec. This bug is releated with nvidia 290.40 drivers.

00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation C51PV [GeForce 6150] (rev a2)
Quick fix:
- remove nvidia drivers
sudo apt-get purge nvidia* # warning: some additional packages may be purged..
- download and install nvidia 290.33 driver from nvidia site:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/295.33/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.33.run |
