Matt - thanks again. A quick update from me. I was able to resolve one issue when I noticed my physical interface (eth1, on top of which i have my bridge br-eth1) was marked as down. I was able to address that and now I see packets moving between hosts.
On system boot, dhcp is able to assign an address and it is configured as expected on the compute VMs. Checking the interface status using ovs-ofctl helped me in finding that the link was down.

However, when I try to ping the address from my network node, it does not get past int-br-eth1 on the compute host. I will keep this list posted on what I find.
