I think the issue exists, and under the circumstances identified there's the risk to intercept traffic on a shared medium. If the solution wouldn't involve tracking the source mac of all instances on the shared network, I'd say go for it, but the scalability implications concern me. Having said that, I think knowledge about this is already public domain because of the other issues being reported, therefore we may want to consider open the discussion for wider feedback.
