I guess you can easily undo the changes with 'make uninstall' and
reinstalling the deb package.

It's not easy to understand which the actual problem is from the
launchpad bug because of some contrasting comments.

Can you please show the connection configuration and the status of
systemd-resolve when using the original NM package?

 nmcli connection show <con-id>
 systemd-resolve --status
