We've sorted the issue with rename here:

I'll end up duping one of these bugs to the other.

Note that mtu/wakeonlan issues likely fallout from the name since the .network and files have a [Match] section that includes the intended name. If that's not set properly due to the bug then those settings may not work as well.

If you end up using the workaround in the other bug and still find that wakeonlan is not working, please file a new bug for that particular issue.
