Can you tell me more about how you triggered it? I can't reproduce (using Remix from July 24th). I updated it and got the "System restart required" panel icon.
You used update-manager? (The application that opens when you click the panel applet that says you have updates.) When was this? Do you happen to know the package update that triggered it? (Presumably a kernel upgrade...) |

moving to 1.0 if this is indeed still an issue. If not, please mark as invalid |

I'm marking this as invalid. I haven't been able to reproduce under real-world circumstances. We did have Nicolas see a reproduction by updating from a 8/15 build, but I couldn't duplicate it.
You can test the responsiveness of the icon by 'sudo touch /var/run/reboot-required; sudo touch /var/lib/update-notifier/dpkg-run-stamp' and seeing how long it takes to notice. Doing this seems to take a good chunk of time for it to notice (like ~10s). But it eventually comes up. Perhaps that's all that happened on the original report (and Nicolas's repro)? But I still haven't seen a delay when actually updating.
If this can be reproduced after waiting a good long while, please reopen. And if so, please report the timestamps of the above two files (/var/run/reboot-required and /var/lib/update-notifier/dpkg-run-stamp). Maybe I'm missing a piece of the puzzle. |

the bug here is after seeing the reboot required notification, clicking on the applet in the status bar, and pressing the "Restart" button, the system is not correctly reboot. The user is just logged out and logged back in which is not correct. |

Fixed in update-notifier 0.70.9netbook1. It should have depended on the package powermanagement-interface, but did not. Normally it is pulled in by the ubuntu-desktop meta package, but only for certain architectures, and they left lpia out. |
