Sam Bull (dreamsorcerer) wrote : Mediaplayer should handle non-music audio files

As explained here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/URLDispatcher

The music app is responsible for audio files under ~/Music. Trying to open an audio file elsewhere through the file manager currently does nothing. Mediaplayer should register with URLDispatcher to handle any other audio files.

This is useful so that non-music files can be opened and played. For example, I currently need to put podcasts into a Music subfolder so that I can open them at all. Being able to open them in mediaplayer from another location on the system would allow me to separate these from my music, and stop getting random podcasts come up in Music when on shuffle.
