Since 1.10 doesn't even attempt to adjust the beatgrid offset, I think it might be a bad idea to go with option 4 over 3.
Ideally we would have a little hint bar, hint popups, or a first-run welcome walkthrough (a la promo tracks in 1.8.0) where we could mention these sorts of things, but we don't.
