Yes, using various sort tags is correct solution I think. I'm fine tagging my library with these tags, just would like you to first decide on a supported method in mixxx so I don't need to rename the added sort tags multiple times.

BTW for AAC files itunes is using following tags:

'sort_album_artist': 'soaa'
'sort_album': 'soal'
'sort_artist': 'soar'
'sort_composer': 'soco'
'sort_name': 'sonm'
'sort_show': 'sosn'

I don't think vorbis has a 'official' name or this tag, maybe just use names like I defined above if no common one is defined.
