Tested your branch and would not change the current behavior. Parent items should not override subitem locks. We have no undo function, so safety first.

To increase convenience I could imagine to have two more options in the mouse menue for parent items: "Expand all" and "Collapse all". This would save the time to manually expand all subitems in order to check where a locked sub-sub-item is hiding. Once all subitems are expanded, it is easy to localize locked ones as they have a special icon.
