OK this does seem to affect every way of changing (or starting) PlayPos but by far the one that shows the behaviour the most often on my system is dropping the cursor on the overview waveform view to seek to a random new location.
Could it be related to flushing and refilling the audio buffer? Or some other kind of track buffer?
