If the signal is clipping and Mixxx's meters do not show it, then the meters are broken.

Huh? Why would someone use a valuable pair of sound card outputs and an input channel on their mixer for this instead of routing a deck to the mixer? The mixer already has its own PFL bus. Using two different PFL buses, one in software and one in hardware would be confusing.
