Also, the signal is already being monitored on the speakers from the mixer's main output, so there would not be a point to listening to it in headphones.
I don't even have speakers attached to the computer. only headphones attached to the mixer. When I do monitor it I monitor the sound from another computer that's playing the stream. I don't know if other radio DJ's do it that way but it works for me.
