Be, you are probably right the Record/Broadcast input is pretty useless without an VU-Meter. I think we made the mistake not actually using it during the verification.
Unfortunately adding this during beta is a big feature creep. It has implications to many regions in the Mixxx project.
IMHO a good solution is to make the input inheriting Aux. There is no difference, of capturing an input used for Aux or Broadcasting. We need at least a VU-Meter, a Gain, and a PFL-Feature. A skin friendly solution would be to add an Record/Broadcast routing switch to the Aux decks, for example.
Alternative, we can just remove the Record/Broadcasting input and find a well thought solution for 2.2-alpha.
Ron, why is going back to 2.0 a solution for you? It does not have a Record/Broadcast input.
Can you describe, why you need to route the signal out of Mixxx and back? Which external Hardware do you use?
