Just in the unlikely case you have not found the correct place in the meantime:-)

Add/Use definitions in src/skin/tooltips.cpp, you have to set the controls <TooltipID> in the skin.xml.

There is a nice description of the <TooltipID> usage available @http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/creating_skins#properties_common_to_all_widgets

There is a PR pending to auto-generate the correct tooltip ID from the connections, https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/181
