This is not a DNS issue. AFAIK, the frontend server, which dispatches the load between mirrors, is down. So if the DNS is changed to point to a particular backend mirror, this won't be very good (it won't be able to handle all requests)...

I don't understand what you are speaking about, but that's probably not related to Medibuntu. Ubuntu mirrors are up, so you're able to collect security updates.
