Okay, I got it to compile on Karmic, and it works like a charm. The compilation requires the intltools package, it won't compile if only intltools-debian is installed. The "./waf configure" command notices that intltools is missing, but it doesn't print an error; instead it ends with a "configuration successful" message. The "./waf" command is a non-starter, however - there's a check specifically for intltools. Moreover, even though it won't compile anything, it will print out a "compilation successful" message; and the "./waf install" command will say "compilation and installation successful" message - even though it did nothing.

Seriously, this should be fixed. It confused the hell out of me, and I had to inspect the python script to find out what's wrong. This is especially bad since there are no precompiled packages available that work on 64-bit Karmic Koala.

By the way, media-applet rocks. I absolutely love it. Keep up the good work. Plus, I like Vala.
