btw, now (8.10) only `sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 11M` is accepted here, any higher rates gives:

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

in 7.10 it worked like a charm, since then... from bad to worse.
