I can think of two other possible backscatter issues of Mailman: forged non-susbcriber E-mail sent to the -subscribe aliases - this could easily be handled in a few plus lines in my patch. Or forged non-subscriber E-mail sent to moderated lists - the reply E-mail about the moderation should be suppressed as well.
Is there any other backscatter issue?
I agree completely that no list owner should be able to override these settings. My patch follows exactly what you write about controlling it: there's no Gui, the site default can be overridden by the site admin using config_list only. :-)
Actually we haven't got a mailing list which is internal-only. But I suppose there are sites which have got both kind of lists (public/private) and would want to disable these settings for their private lists for
whatever reason.
