I also encountered this while implementing an external PXE/DHCP server for MAAS and the temporary workaround is to parse the MAAS iPXE configuration file adding the missing initrd=boot-initrd.

I do confirm that only UEFI mode is affected. Both Jammy and Focal need this kernel parameter.
