also, can you copy /usr/share/maas/machine-resources/ppc64el from the maas server to this machine and run it? You can do this enabling "Allow SSH access and prevent machine powering off" in the Commissioning form. This option tells MAAS to copy SSH keys to the ephemeral OS and to keep the machine on after the commissioning tests, so you can connect to it and run additional actions.
