I grepped through the attached logs, and found some evidence that the syslog service is misbehaving:

I don't see anything that corresponds to the exact time you see the missing log output, though.
I don't think we have enough information to move forward with this one. We need to narrow down how potential race conditions in the maas-syslog service might cause logging to be dropped - and what those conditions are.
