Hi, I managed to reproduce this bug manually. On snapped maas, I ran
sudo systemctl restart snap.maas.supervisor
and immediately after tried to compose a new vm. It takes between 90-120 seconds for maas to settle after a restart and for the compose command to work. This was using the cli, not web gui.
