I can confirm that the bug is there 2013-10-07 in an updated/upgraded Lubuntu 13.10 i386 system installed into a USB 3 drive in the following computer.

I can confirm that installing 'xscreensaver' alone will NOT fix the issue.

The workaround in #35 alone does *not* fix the issue for me, not even after reboot. (I copied and pasted the commands from Firefox to lxterminal, so I think they were correctly done.)
