It would be nice to see a timer. The current time it takes is way too long though, and fixing that should be considered a higher priority than a timer at this point.
tikky: What you are asking is out of the scope of LiveUSB. Try making a custom LiveCD with reconstructor and then making a LiveUSB out of it.
