A minimal amount of prodding with gdb produces the following:

$ gdb
(gdb) run

>> Open a file from the graphical interface

GDB Error message:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x00007ffff71aeecb in GlobalParams::findFontFile(GooString*, char**) ()
   from /usr/lib/libpoppler.so.13
