Bug Description

I am using LMDE. I just ran update manager and it download around 14 updates. Everything went on fine except with MintDesktop. I got the following error message:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mintdesktop_3.2.2_all.deb: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up

I tried restarting the system and running the update again but of no use. Also, post update, it defaulted to Mint-X theme which was not appearing as it should. So I restored Shiki theme. But the MintMenu still appears bad. Attaching a screenshot. Is there a way to roll back the updates?? LMDE was looking a lot better before update! :(

Problem with MintDesktop error is solved with Clem's instructions on LMDE News post on the blog. But I still have problems with the appearance of Mint-X theme. Attaching a screenshot for better understanding.

Yes. I created the directory structure /etc/gdm/PostLogin/ and added an empty file named Default and mintdesktop (3.2.2) installed successfully. I am not having any issues with themes however.

I have the same problem. I don't see how to find "Clem's instructions on LMDE News post on the blog." I don't know where that would be. Could you please give me a link?

The directiory structure Scott suggests looks already to be there with a file named Default.sample. Am I supposed to modify that file?

Also, is there a way (or specific location) to look up bugs by number? Is this the only case of this bug being looked at?

I'm newbie. Thanks for you help!

Hey Morton,

Clem's instructions are here: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1595

This should help in getting rid of error while updating.

Please consider the Linux Mint blog post as the fix for this issue. The next iteration of LMDE will have the updated packages so we should not have to go through this again.

As an effort to help "clean up" I will be marking this as Fix Released. If anyone has outstanding issues to this, please contact.

Thank you.
