Yes, this bug is still actual!
I've confirmed for Maya, Olivia (14, 15), Mate edition.
"If Gnome panel set to autohide and open the mintMenu it keeps the panel open, which is good, but when the menu closes it does not hide the panel also. So to hide it you have to move the mouse over and off the panel."
Bug shows up in simmilar cases, not just mintMenu, if you click at e.g. clock/calendar, wifi, battery or any any other tray icon, and then click somewhere else (but *not* again on panel), it remains open.
